Our Mission

As trans and non-binary fediverse nerds, we find the fediverse’s current moderation system too “all-or-nothing”. Delegating all responsibility for filtering & (de-)federating to a few (overworked) sysadmins? This leads to burn out and can put a major strain on the instances, often leading them to go offline, losing valuable community spaces and shared networks.

We believe that moderation and filtering is a collective responsibility.

This is why we propose a system that crowdsources knowledge about trustworthiness with low individual effort.

The Maracuya trust system combines minor UX additions with a real-world-tested reputation algorithm. It is adapted to existing protocols and allows us to collectively ensure reliability, accountability, and fairness.

We are designing it to reduce administrative work, scams, harassment, and unwanted AI content – making the fediverse more accessible to more people, while improving content quality for everyone.

We want tech that repairs the lost trust between our echo chambers instead of dividing us and that rewards being trustworthy. We hope to replace “followership” with a better concept: One that acknowledges the existence of nuance, bad actors in safe spaces and allies outside of our comfort zones.
